My Friend Project: The Friend Coach Introduction
Going into 2017 I knew I wanted the year to be one of self-love, self-discovering, friend finding, lesson learning and life building. I'd never had one stand out best friend and I don't have a sister either, so at times could feel quite lonely.
A huge part of that was a personal friend project. I had some 'friends' in my life that no-longer served me as rewarding or real friends. I wanted to filter these people from my life to make room for amazing new friends. These would be 'proper friends' that wanted to spend quality time together, that genuinely cared and that I could class as people that were always there for me.
Throughout my twenties I have learnt a lot about different types of friends and how life events can impact friendships. By going on My Friend Project I was very honest with my journey and would share details with anyone that would listen. It just so happened that the people willing to listen grew and grew. I was amazed at just how many other ladies in their twenties that were experiencing exactly the same as me. It didn't stop there, in fact women of ALL ages were experiencing the same.
With social media at our fingertips, the pressure of a perfect insta feed, the unrealistic results of a snapchat filter and friend goals plastered all over the internet, it just so turns out that a lot of people are feeling lonelier than ever.
Not only are people lacking self-love and self-care but there is a serious lack of compassion in other people's reactions too. There seems to be a large vacant space between kind-of when they can be bothered friends and rewarding and real friends.
I decided to start howtomakefriends.co.uk to put a stop to the loneliness left from vacant friendships. I want everyone to know how to make friends, how to have a great time with friends and how to be a great friend too. My Friend Project has provided me with first hand experience of all of the above. I'm a firm believer to practice what you preach and My Friend Project has given me so much to talk about.
I have experienced the dark, empty loneliness of being let down by 'friends', I've experienced feeling like no one understand, that friends are moving on and leaving me behind, that I'm not good enough, that I'm not special enough and that I will never have a best friend. I've experience friends getting engaged, married, having babies, moving country and moving on.
I will share EVERYTHING I have learnt from My Friend Project because I want to make a difference. I genuinely want everyone to feel what it's like to have a rewarding and real friend. I will share EVERYTHING that I have learnt here and we will build a beautiful community of like-minded people. Never will you have to feel that you don't have friends EVER again.
